Image Enlargements — onOne's Genuine Fractals
Genuine Fractals is the industry standard in image enlargement software. Blow your images up by a factor of 10 without any appreciable loss in sharpness or clarity. That means enlarging an image that's 10 inches on a side up to 100 inches on a side.
We at photoshop-pro have been using Genuine Fractals for years. Having regular photography exhibitions, Genuine Fractals has been indispensible in making those large prints perfect. And this is exactly why we promote onOne Genuine Fractals on this site — we've used it for years, and couldn't do without it.

Step One

There are a few ways to open the Genuine Fractals work space, but the easiest is probably just to go to the menu bar and press onOne and then select Genuine Fractals from the drop down menu.
Step Two

Once Genuine Fractals opens, you'll see all your options on the right, and the first thing to do is determine how large you want your image to be.
- Pixel Dimensions
- The space circled in blue is where you can adjust your image size by pixels.
- You can choose pixels or percent here by clicking on the down arrow or the default setting word "pixels".
- Document Size
- Change the width and height of your document in inches by default.
- You can also choose pixels, percent, millimeters, centimeters, points, or picas (whew).
- You're also free to change your image's resolution (pixels/inch or pixels/cm).
- Constrain Proportions
- Make sure to keep the check box circled in red checked to ensure that the original dimensions of your image will be preserved.
- With this box checked, when you change any other setting, for example width, the other dimension will scale proportionally.
- Presets
- This is a very handy thing. Click the down arrow to bring up an huge selection of preset sizes that your image will be cropped to.
- Once this has been selected, a crop box will surround your image and, like in Photoshop, you can move or resize this to your liking.
Step Three

The image viewer, to the left of your settings panel, is important and you can scale this in a variety of ways.
Click "fit" to fit your image into the size of the viewer.
- 1:1
- This setting will blow your image up to 100% and is probably the best for viewing the results.
- 2:1
- Your image will be viewed at half the 100% size.
- 4:1
- The image is now shown at one-quarter the 100% size.
If your document is larger than the view size, simply click and drag inside the red box in the navigator window to view that area in your document.
Step Four

Move the "Amount" and "Threshold" sliders to adjust the texture of your image.
Alternatively, click the down arrow to bring up 5 settings to automatically adjust your image.
Step Five

Sharpening is, be default, set to "off". Click the box circled in red to turn it on if you want.
The sharpening adjustments are identical to what they are in Photoshop.
Step Six

It's the same story with Film Grain. Click the box to turn the effect on and move the slider up to increase grain.
Step Seven

Tiling is a way to split your document into separate sections and print them off one by one.
Set the width, height, and overlay amounts in either pixels, percent, inches, or centimeters.
Step Eight

Add extended margins around your image to wrap it around canvas stretcher bars without losing any of the original composition.
Step Nine
